Since its founding in 1980, The Alzheimer’s Association has been dedicated to working towards a world without Alzheimer’s and dementia. This nationwide non-profit organization focuses on accelerating global research while providing care and support to all affected.
The Connecticut chapter, located in Southington, holds a very special place in our hearts. Four years ago, at the young age of 59, Coach Gabby’s father was diagnosed with early onset dementia.
Since his diagnoses, The Alzheimer’s Association has been a wealth of knowledge and support to her and her family. While there is still no cure for Dementia and Alzheimer’s, The Alzheimer’s Association helps with advocates for the care givers and support groups.
Every fall, Gabby and her family participate in the annual Alzheimer’s walk to honor her dad. Their team, “Forza Fighters” is one of the many teams that walk together as a beautiful reminder that nobody is fighting alone. All money raised goes towards research so that one day families do not have to go through the pain of watching their loved ones fade away.
