Member of the Month for May is Sarah Dupuis

Member of the Month for May is Sarah Dupuis. Sarah has been at SIN since the end of 2019 and remained active during our Covid shutdown. She is one of our most consistent members and takes such a wide range of classes. She never backs down from a challenge whether it be SIN Bingo or a Fitness Challenge, in which she placed in 3rd most recently! Sarah is a welcoming and strong presence in all the classes she takes and we are proud of her continued improvements.❤️💪🏋🏻‍♀️🏃🏻‍♀️🥊💪

How long have you been coming to SIN Fitness?  A little over 3 years. I joined in November of 2019. I had just started to get in a groove of coming to the gym when things closed due to COVID. However, the SIN live classes were the absolute best during that time. I have never worked out so consistently and from my home in my life before then. I came back to in-person May 2021.Do you remember your first workout?

Absolutely! It was a bootcamp with Emily at the old gym. I was pretty terrified, I had never done a work-out like a bootcamp. I had never held a kettlebell before! Kaylee shadowed me the whole class. From the moment the class started I felt less worried, like maybe I could actually do these things. The coaches made everything feel doable and the other people in the class were supportive day 1.

How would you describe you lifestyle before SIN Fitness? How would you describe it now? Post-college, I realized that my health and activity level wasn’t the best. The scale creeped up on a number I didn’t want to see. I started to run and join a gym mainly doing group classes like Zumba and Spin. Over the years, I would have less motivation to go to the gym. I knew I needed to just try something new. Running was still a big part of my life, but I knew it was also inconsistent and not enough.

Now, attending a gym class is now one of the highlights of my week. It doesn’t feel like a chore. During the pandemic I shifted to work from home, so gym classes are my daily time away from the house and some days my “social” time. Between the work-outs and the nutrition challenges, I have definitely learned how to become healthier. I’m still a work in progress, but I’m now enjoying putting in the time to get the work done.

If you could design your perfect workout what would it be? Oh this is a hard question…. I take such a wide variety of classes! I like classes that are quick-moving with a variety of things going on including cardio. I do love a class with stations. There is something about working hard at something and then moving on to the next thing. However, if there was a way to row and kickbox in the same class that would be interesting.

What advice would you give to anyone thinking of starting at SIN Fitness? Don’t hesitate, sign-up today. You are going to be nervous and uncomfortable. But know that the coaches have your back 200%. Say hi to someone as you step into class. More than likely that person is just as nervous as you. Or they will become one of your biggest motivators during class. Keep in mind that everything is “slow and steady” and have fun!
