The Check in for May and June is the American Liver Foundation. This charity is close to the heart of our very own Coach Ann Ferguson who recently lost her father, Donald DeToro, to cancer this past February. The ALF makes a measurable difference in the fight against liver disease by providing financial support for medical research, education for medical professionals, and advocacy/ information for patients and their families. Ann's father was a two-time liver transplant recipient. The ALF offered Ann's father and family over 20 years of support. His journey with liver disease had its share of challenges, but Ann is incredibly proud of her father and his determination to never give up throughout it all. Without the medical advances of liver transplantation and disease prevention, Ann's father would have been gone long ago. Her family is forever grateful to the American Liver Foundation for giving them extra time and unforgettable memories that they might not have had.
