This September and October, your SIN check-in supports Innovative Cancer Research at Dana-Farber, a program that fuels groundbreaking ideas from top scientists to transform how we understand and treat cancer. Through a highly selective process, this fund drives forward basic research discoveries—especially in areas like ovarian cancer, where progress is urgently needed. In May 2023, SIN Fitness member Elise Suchocki was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer. Since then, she has teamed up with Tracy Saperstein, who leads Innovative Cancer Research’s fundraising efforts in Connecticut, to channel support toward ovarian cancer research at Dana-Farber. Ovarian cancer is often detected too late—there is still no effective screening test. As a result, 1 in 78 women will be diagnosed, many at stage 4.
