Scottie’s Christmas in July supports the Child Life Program at Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital, a donation-based program that helps children from newborn through age 18 cope with treatments, procedures, and hospital stays through play, education, and support. This cause is especially meaningful to SIN member Jana Menta. In 2016, Jana’s husband received chemotherapy treatments at Smilow Cancer Hospital. During his treatments, they regularly saw children courageously battling cancer and other illnesses, inspiring Jana to find a way to help. After her husband’s treatments were completed, Jana launched Christmas in July in 2017 to support the Child Life Program during a time when donations are typically lower. In 2018, the drive was renamed Scottie’s Christmas in July in honor of a 16-year-old patient who received care at Yale New Haven Hospital while battling myoblastoma. For every Facebook check-in, SIN Fitness will donate 50¢ to Scottie’s Christmas in July. Your check-ins help provide comfort, resources, and support to children and families during difficult medical journeys.
