11 Years of SIN Fitness: Strength in Numbers

Eleven years. It’s hard to believe that SIN Fitness has been part of our lives for that long.

When we opened SIN 11 years ago, we had no idea what we were creating. We wanted to build a great gym, help people get stronger and healthier, and create a place where people enjoyed coming to work out. But somewhere along the way, SIN became so much more than a gym.

It became a community. And honestly, that is the part I am most proud of.

SIN stands for Strength In Numbers, and after 11 years, I don’t think there could be a better name for this place. There really is strength in numbers. There is strength in having people who know your name, notice when you’re missing, cheer for you when you hit a PR, encourage you through a tough workout and support you through the things happening in your life outside of the gym.

Because over 11 years, we have been through a lot together.

SIN has been there through some of the biggest moments of my own life. My kids were born during these 11 years. My mom died during these 11 years. And just like my life, the lives of our members have changed, too. We have watched members lose parents, spouses and people they love. We have had members fight cancer and members fighting other battles that aren’t always visible to everyone else. And through all of it, we’ve watched this community rally around them, show up for them and remind them that they don’t have to go through it alone.

We’ve celebrated marriages, babies, birthdays, graduations, new jobs and countless other milestones. We’ve also stood beside each other through some incredibly difficult moments.

And some of my favorite things have nothing to do with working out at all.

I love seeing SIN friendships turn into real friendships outside of the gym. Members showing up at each other’s weddings. Spending holidays together. Visiting each other’s homes. Having their kids become friends because their parents met at SIN. These are the things that remind me that what we’ve built here is about so much more than workouts.

That is what SIN is about.

Over 11 years, we have also seen people come and go. Members move, life changes and people move into different seasons of their lives. We’ve had coaches come and go, too. While we certainly miss the people who have been part of SIN along the way, we are grateful for the time they spent here and for what they contributed to our community. When someone moves on, we genuinely wish them nothing but success and happiness in whatever comes next.

We are incredibly thankful for our coaches, past and present. We know how important they are to this community. They are the ones who show up every day, learn your names, remember your goals, push you when you need to be pushed and encourage you when you need that instead. We know our coaches are a huge part of why our members keep coming back, and we are grateful for every person who has been part of Team SIN over the years.

And then there are our members.

You are the reason SIN is what it is.

Thank you for trusting us with your fitness. Thank you for showing up on the days you feel strong and the days you really don’t want to. Thank you for cheering each other on, welcoming new people and being there for each other through the good stuff and the really hard stuff.

Eleven years also makes me appreciate something we can so easily take for granted: the ability to move our bodies. To lift, squat, carry, jump, row, push, pull, stretch and challenge ourselves. We don’t all move the same, and we certainly aren’t all working toward the same goals. But every day we get the opportunity to do something our bodies are capable of doing and that is something worth appreciating.

When I look back at 11 years of SIN, I don’t think about the number of classes we’ve coached or how many people have walked through the doors. I think about the people.

The people who started as strangers and became friends. The coaches who have helped shape this place. The members who have been here for years and the ones who were only here for a season. The people who have celebrated with us and the people who have leaned on us during some of the hardest moments of their lives.

SIN has been a huge part of our lives for the last 11 years, and we are incredibly grateful that it has been a part of yours, too.

11 years of Strength In Numbers.

And after everything we’ve experienced together, I think the name says it all. ❤️
