The JDRF is leading the fight against Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) by funding research, advocating for government backing, and providing a support network for millions of people around the world impacted by T1D.
January 22, 2016 was a life changing day for Strength in Numbers’ members Jason and Kim Stein and their family. It was the day their son, Tyler, was diagnosed with a Type 1 Diabetes. Tyler’s Diabetes was found early at his yearly physical, he was only 4 at the time and hadn’t shown any signs of being sick. From that day on, The Stein’s began living their new version of a “normal life” managing Tyler’s T1D.
Like so many children with T1D, Tyler’s body goes through so much each day, and while there are ups and downs, Tyler remains a happy, active, athletic, kind, and loving first grader, and continues to push through it like a champ because he is a fighter and is backed with so much love and support. Thanks to the support of his doctors and the work of the JDRF, there have been many advances that have allowed Tyler to become more independent.
