Serah has conquered so many new personal challenges including pull ups (which even gained her a few “cool mom” compliments from her kids) and box jumps!
She attends a variety of classes and always show up ready work. Serah gives 100% in every class, she is very coachable and works hard to improve in form, endurance and strength.
Serah is kind, compassionate, and welcoming. She is always willing to help in anyway possible including lending her muscles during our facility move or by grabbing a hard to find item at the grocery store.
We love having you as part of our SIN family and look forward to your continued growth! ❤️💜🏋🏻♀️💪🥊🔥🏋🏻♀️🥊🔥❤️💜
How long have you been coming to Strength in Numbers?
Since January 2020. My sister in law, Rachel, got us the Groupon so we could try it together and it took me 5 months to get the courage to come! It was going to expire so I had to do it and I’m SO glad I did. Also having a workout buddy like Rachel is the best thing ever because she is so encouraging.
Do you remember your first workout?
It was kickboxing with Coach Pat. I had taken kickboxing at another gym before but this class was so different and much more challenging yet enjoyable. Her coaching style was so full of positive energy! A bootcamp with Nicole followed and I remember her telling the class what we were doing that day and thinking I probably wouldn’t come out alive haha. That specific workout was one of the workouts we repeated in December and I was excited to do it and conquer it. That was a huge moment of personal victory for me as I could see how my body and mind had changed over last year.
How would you describe your lifestyle before Strength in Numbers? How would you describe it now?
I had been exercising on my own for years because I lived overseas and didn’t have access to a gym where we were. When we moved to CT, I joined another gym and was working out for about a year before joining SIN. I thought that the classes I was taking were good and challenging but I didn’t see much personal growth and never felt great afterwards because it didn’t feel like it was the right fit for me. The coaches never bothered to learn my name or give much encouragement or feedback.
Quickly after joining SIN, I realized I had never really properly worked out before as the classes were more challenging than anything I had ever experienced. I avoided bootcamp for months because I never felt like I could keep up. During quarantine, I worked out with the coaches lives every single day and jumped right into bootcamps (shoutout to the 9:30 crew!) and never looked back. I still have so much room to grow but I have seen my body and mind get stronger than ever.
If you could design your perfect workout what would it be?
I love a good YGIG or a Team workout for time with lots of different stations because I enjoy the camaraderie of doing something together and I love variety in a workout. It would include a rowing station for sure because I have really grown to love rowing (never thought I’d say that!) as well as strength and core moves.
What advice would you give to anyone thinking of starting at Strength in Numbers?
Joining SIN Fitness will be one of the best decisions you could ever make. It has changed my life and it will change yours too. The coaches and the people who are a part of this place are some of the best this world has to offer. No matter what level of fitness you are at, there is always room to challenge yourself and to grow. The standard is always held high at SIN but you will always be celebrated for where you are at and for doing your best. There truly is strength in numbers and if you surround yourself with people who believe in you, you can’t fail!
