Maria is the definition of grit and determination. She crushes each and every workout and does so with a positive attitude. She is no stranger to hard work and overcoming obstacles as she had a significant injury just over a year and half ago. As a result of her passion for fitness and hard-work, this past month she did box jumps for the first time since her injury!
She is truly an inspiration as well as motivation for us all. Maria is a busy mom; balancing work, family and her own wellness. We all know how challenging that can be. Not only is she an awesome role model for her kids but for all of us SINNERS as well. She is so friendly and encouraging that it just makes you push harder.
We absolutely love having Maria at SIN. 💪🏼❤️🥊🏋🏻♀️💪🏼❤️
How long have you been coming to Strength in Numbers?
I joined SIN in November 2019.
Do you remember your first workout?
I don’t remember the movements or the particulars of the workout... I have never been good about remembering details like that, but I do remember how I felt. I felt really excited about starting at SIN, a place I had heard so much about from many people in Berlin, and I couldn’t wait to get back into group fitness after taking a few months off to find my new “home.” I also felt a little nervous about fitting in and being new. However, I left that night feeling AMAZING and knew instantly I made the right decision.
How would you describe you lifestyle before Strength in Numbers? How would you describe it now?
Before SIN, I lived an active lifestyle whereby fitness was an important part of my life. I had been committed to Crossfit for over 6 years but needed a change after my gym moved to a new location. I needed the convenience of a gym close by for my busy schedule while still getting a rigorous workout. SIN has been the perfect fit.
My lifestyle now is pretty much the same, but even BUSIER with my kids’ sports schedules, yet I am working out more during the week than I ever have before! I am just so happy when I leave SIN, I can’t help myself! Between the amazing physical and mental benefits of being a member of SIN, I also get the social-emotional benefits too. I have found another family in SIN and made many lifelong friends.
If you could design your perfect workout what would it be?
I love a great YGIG workout that involves some of my favorite movements like cleans, pull-ups, push-ups, burpees (yes, I am the weirdo who loves burpees) jump rope, and snatch. But honestly, throw in a great playlist and I am good for any workout!
What advice would you give to anyone thinking of starting at Strength in Numbers?
For anyone thinking of starting at SIN Fitness, I know what I wouldn’t say. I wouldn’t say “go for it,” or “give it a chance.” I know those one-liners don’t usually help when someone is about to make a life change or try something new. I know what I would say. “You are much stronger and capable than you know, and you will find that out when you unlock all your potential at SIN. It’s that special of a place.”
