Over the past year, she’s shown up with determination, grit, and a positive attitude while facing challenges most of us can’t imagine. Check in for Charity: In a Heartbeat

For the Check in For Charity for the months of January and February is “In a Heart Beat” Member Kate Ainsworth and her husband are both teachers, and many years ago, he had a student named Mike Papale who went into cardiac arrest at the age of 17. He was at a local rec center in Wallingford where they did not have an AED, and was lucky to survive. As an adult, Mike started the In a Heartbeat foundation. The foundation donates AEDs to places that need, but do not have them. They also run screenings for kids and teens to detect heart issues before having an emergency situation. Member of the Month for December goes out to Heather Iaderosa! Heather joined SIN in April 2024 and has been on an incredible upward climb ever since. Her progress has been huge, and her commitment shows in everything she does. She’s active, consistent, and always ready to jump into whatever we have going on: challenges, Fight Nights, Trivia Nights and more. November always brings me back to gratitude. I know I talk about this every year, but the truth is, gratitude isn’t something that loses value. It deepens, especially when you’ve lived through the hard seasons. November has become my month to slow down, look back, and remind myself of everything I’m thankful for. Check-In for Charity: Spreading Holiday Cheer in Our Community The Check-In for Charity for the months of November and December will support the Town of Berlin Holiday Assistance Program. Many of our neighbors, friends, and families are facing financial hardships this season. The Holiday Assistance Program relies on the generosity of Berlin residents and local businesses to help make the holidays joyful for everyone.
